Simple WordPress Photo Gallery is a great plugin for users looking to add some extra photo gallery functionality to their WordPress sites. The plugin has an intuitive, easy-to-use interface, which can be quickly configured by a WordPress user of any level. It will take you no more than a couple of minutes to set up a great looking image gallery on your site.
Features
Simple WordPress Photo Gallery allows you to upload the photos with the help of the native WP uploader and add an unlimited amount of images to your gallery. You can sort your photos, include or exclude certain images, and easily edit their properties, such as name, description and alt text. The plugin allows for an automatic creation of nicely designed front-end gallery pages. Site administrators can use shortcodes to include the gallery on any page or post of their sites.
Besides all the basic options, the Simple WordPress Photo Gallery plugin takes the gallery creation process a step further with features like watermarking. You can create watermarks with any text in them, set the opacity of this text, as well as its placement and front size. You can also set the size of the watermarked image that your site visitors will see.
Furthermore, the plugin allows you to specify the thumbnail style to be used for your gallery images and to apply pagination to thumbnail display if you are posting a large amount of images. The sorting capability allows you to set the order in which you want your galleries to be listed on the gallery home page. You can also use a great looking lightbox effect and create responsive image sliders. This free plugin has great support and is regularly updated by the developers.
Installation
To install the plugin, download the simple photo gallery plugin from the WordPress plugin repository. Go to the Plugins menu in your admin panel, click Add New and Upload, then click Install Plugin and Activate Plugin.
Creating a New Gallery
To use the plugin, go to the Photo Gallery menu in your WordPress dashboard. Here you can manage any of your existing galleries and create new ones. Click the Create New Gallery button to start a brand new image gallery. This will take you to the form where you can enter gallery details, such as name, thumbnail template and image sort order.
You can also enter watermark configurations, including text, its opacity, placement, font size and maximum preview dimensions of a watermarked image. Finally, you can enable pagination, which can be helpful for larger galleries, and enter the number of thumbnails to appear on any given page. Once all the parameters are set, click the Upload button to add photos to your new gallery. Clicking Save Gallery will automatically create a new photo gallery page with all the photos you uploaded.
Creating an Image Slider
To display your gallery photos as an image slider, use this shortcode:
[wppg_photo_slider id="1"]
The id value is the ID of the gallery, the images from which will be used in the slider. If you want to showcase photos from more than one gallery in a single slider, enter several IDs and separate them by commas. The following is an example shortcode for this purpose:
[wppg_photo_slider id="1,2,3"]
